TechMed Event
Bridging past and future: five years of MedTech advancements and beyond
Global healthcare has significantly improved, partly due to medical technological innovations. However, the sector faces major challenges, such as the increase in chronic diseases, rising healthcare costs, and a shortage of healthcare workers. Additionally, environmental challenges pose an extra threat to public health, requiring urgent and innovative solutions.
Through sustainable and personalized care by means of technology, the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente, established in its current form in 2019, is committed to addressing these medical challenges. This initiative started earlier with the idea of bridging the gap between technology and healthcare in education, research, and innovation. With a strong vision to improve healthcare through innovation and collaboration, the TechMed Centre has grown into an international leader over the past five years. The associated innovation ecosystems, such as the MedTech Cluster Twente, are also thriving. The strength of the TechMed Centre, as an innovator, catalyst, and connector, lies not only in its advanced facilities and R&D expertise but also in its unique culture of collaboration. Short lines of communication and a strong willingness to work together foster an environment where interdisciplinary partnerships thrive. Hospitals, knowledge institutions, governments, and companies collaborate in a fertile ecosystem.
Improving Healthcare through Innovation and Collaboration
On Wednesday, November 6, the 6th edition of the annual TechMed Event will take place. Leading stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, companies, researchers, investors, talented students, administrators, and healthcare organizations, will come together to inspire each other, reflect on the past years, and provide a platform for future-oriented discussions. By stimulating interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to share knowledge, promote innovation, and create a roadmap for a sustainable future in healthcare.
What to Expect at the TechMed Event
Be inspired by the keynote lecture from Kylle Jordan, who will share the vision of the Destination Medical Centre in Rochester, Minnesota, and experiences with setting up large-scale public-private partnerships between Mayo Clinic, knowledge institutions, regional governments, and the business community. The event will feature engaging discussions on topics such as the power of collaboration, brilliant failures, talent talks and a Dragon’s Den session. If you want to be inspired and stay updated on the latest medical technological developments, be sure to attend sessions on chip technology, sensing and imaging, data in health improvement, cybersecurity, staff shortages, planetary health, animal-free innovation, and technology for human drug research. These sessions offer valuable insights into the progress and innovations within the TechMed Centre. You can also participate in accessible matchmaking activities, lab and demo tours.
